Announcing ArtiString by Lodi Audio

10 years ago, I started on an obsession: I wanted to play polyphonic synths with the electric guitar I already owned, without bolting on bulky hex pickups, running 13-pin cables, or spending €1,500 on a dedicated MIDI guitar.

The industry consensus was clear: you had to choose.

  1. Real-time response (low latency, but strictly monophonic).
  2. Polyphony (chords and harmonies, but with so much latency and ghost-noting that it felt unplayable live).

I tested every state-of-the-art approach in DSP and machine learning. There were countless roadblocks, dead ends, and rewrites. But I refused to accept that guitarists had to compromise their natural playing style.

That journey gave birth to GuitarMidi-LV2—our open-source core that proved the math worked under Linux.

Today, we take the ultimate leap forward.

We are officially launching ArtiString by Lodi Audio—readily available now at www.lodi-audio.com.

What is ArtiString?

  • True 6-Note Polyphony in Real-Time: Tracks chords and complex voicings with minimal latency.
  • Zero Hardware Compromise: Plug standard 1/4" guitar jack ➔ Audio Interface ➔ Any Software Synth.
  • Built for the Musician: We wrapped our open-source DSP engine in a best-in-class, intuitive UX—including custom presets engineered for common guitar types and pickups (Single-coils, Humbuckers, P90s).
  • The Hybrid Dimension: Don’t just replace your guitar tone—blend it. Mix your raw, overdriven guitar tone with lush synth pads and brass leads simultaneously to create sounds no keyboard player could ever replicate.
